This year the Corpus Cristi Event takes place on the 24th and 25th of May. The details are as follows:

• 24th - Giants Gather at Cap de la Vila - 7pm
• 25th - From 8am you can view the flower displays on the streets of Sitges
• 24th - From 8.30pm the Giants Procession takes place around Sitges taking the following route, Plc del Baluard, Plc Miquel Utrillo, Fonollar, Baluard, Vidal, Quadres, Barcelona, Santiago Rusinol, Jesus, Cap de la Vila, Major, Plc de LAjutament, Plc del Baluard

This is a truly beautiful event and should not be missed.

To celebrate this august event and also recognising that many potential and repeat guests may be feeling the uncertainties of the credit crunch and the recent hikes in interest rates he has discounted ALL of the hotel room prices until 16 May for guests booking up to close of business on 15 May - well perhaps also the 16May if he goes out to celebrate the event.

Average discounts are around 15 percent for the peak months of June, July and August and around 10 percent for other months.

Improvements include LCD 20inch TVs (yes dear I know it has been a long time since you got to see one of these ( if you visit ….ASK Terry!!)) which connect up to the DVD players and the range of movies brought back from Thailand on the recent holiday.

Garden side rooms above the first floor have brand new stainless steel and wooden decked balconies with tables and chairs.

Though not as large as the terraces of rooms 11 and 12 - the terrace rooms - they do allow guests to enjoy looking over the garden and cavorting guests from the hotel and community while enjoying a big stiff one, with plenty of tonic, or a cup of tea.

All rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, fridges to store your own supplies of drink.

Other improvements in brief - new entrance and bar doors which lift the light level and make this a friendly place to have pre-dinner drink at far more reasonable prices than some of the bars and clubs. Especially with the “Buy 2 and 3rd is free” regular offer - do try a “Brown Monkey!!” or Long Island Iced Tea ( the best and strongest in town!)

Wi-fi, which is free of charge, is available in the publc rooms and works up to the first floor (The penthouse has its own ADSL connection) Sop if you must keep up your profile or work contact then you can.

The garden has undergone its annual spruce up complements of Eddie and looks very pretty and welcoming for breakfast and evening drinks and events - the guys are founder members of the Sitges English Theatre Company and host several events each Summer which are popular with the locals and visitors alike.

Oh and the lights are new too in most of the rooms and all shower rooms - ensuite in ALL rooms - have new ceilings and have been spruced up.

To qualify for discounts a booking must have been received and confirmed over the new straight-through processing booking system (try say this after a couple!) which require a reasonable 40percent deposit, with the balance due at checkout time BY THE 16 MAY deadline. After this date the prices will revert to the standard for 2008.

So get the fingers clicking to save money and get great value in the friendliest little guest palace in Sitges!

The weekends tend to be busier and also littered with local competions, so possibly best avoided.

At some of the courses it is easy to combine a good reasonably priced 3 course lunch, around €10 per head, with the golf.

Staff at the courses are generally very welcoming and sympathetic to newcomers. There are some good professionals, driving ranges and putting practice greens. A bag of range balls is only €1!

The Sitges International Car Rally takes place at the end of March.  As this is the 50th Anniversary of the event, we are expecting bumper crowds in Sitges for the entire weekend.

All of the above days can book very fast, so early reservations are advisable.

All rooms have received their annual Spring clean and redecoration. We took the opportunity to update some of the light fittings in the rooms and also all shower-room ceilings.  And the pipework that feeds the showers - some idiot in the 1960’s put steel piping throughout the building and over time and being embedded in concrete this had rotted and over the “closed” season we had to renew these and repair some leak damage.

We received a clean bill of health from the local authority for our water supply - they carry out independent testing of ALL hotel rooms and office and public bathrooms and kitchens twice a year for  infection/contamination, especially legionella.  The infection is rare and we have, as I would expect, passed with flying colours each time but it is good to know that the local authority provides this check-up for owners and guests alike.

Also the certificates for our fire extinguishers have been renewed for 2008 (all in functional order)  and that for the fire sprinkler system, making us one of the best equipped hotels in Sitges!  I am afraid some of our rivals don’t have some of these systems and safeguards.
