The Sitges Experience

International Outlook – Local Charm

Visit Sitges to experience the warmth of Spain, Fiesta spirit and the relaxed calm of the Mediterranean.

An undeveloped, unspoilt, seaside town, Sitges stretches out along two white sandy bays edged with palm lined promenades. The nine beaches, each with their own character, are known as the Golden Shores of the Costa Dorada.

The old city buildings cluster around the town’s famous 17th century church of Sant Bartomeu. The three Museums are a must-see; stroll through the beautiful architecture, listen to local musical performances or admire the works of Rusiñol, Picasso and El Greco.

The birthplace of the Spanish Modernist movement, the town has a reputation for its liberal and artistic attitudes. There are secluded nudist beaches and it is a favourite international gay destination.

A night out in Sitges offers bars and clubs for the party animals, or exceptional restaurants and relaxation for those who really want to unwind.

From Sitges – explore the delights of Catalunya:

• Barcelona – A half-hour drive or by train.
• The Penedes wine region – The centuries-old Torres vineyards.
• The Caves of Cava – The vineyards of Cordonui and Freixenet.
• Monasteries of Monsterrat and Poblet.
• Tarragona – The ancient Roman capital of Spain.
• Universal Studios Adventure Park at Port Aventura.

villa or apartment in Sitges – the pitfalls of renting

Monday, February 6th, 2012

Ensure that your agent is a registered business with the Generalitat and also town hall.  there are a large number of unregistered people setting themselves up as agents.  They may be fine but the town hall, local and national government now requires that agencies should be registered, pay a licence fee and also confirm to a code of ethics and procedures1

Remember you want to ensure that the agent involved is not just a scam and that what they advertise will be there when you turn up.  Over the last 3 years we have had a number of Dutch and American people turning up for apartment and villa rental for holiday lets only to find that their accommodation and agent didn’t exist!! and then we have had to find them hotel or apartment accommodation to save their holiday.

An expensive holiday for them which with a few precautions could have been avoided.

Ask you agent to tell you about their registration and their id; check they exist by phoning them, check them on google, check with the tourist office or the local trade association – the GREMI – to see that they are bona fide.

Licences are issued and cost between euros1000 and 4000 depending on the number of properties and also the fulfilment of registratio.  if your agent can’t prove they are registered then….. they probably aren’t and may be a disaster waiting to happen for you.

The Hotel Liberty and www.rentaroundsitges.com and www.sitgesproperty.com are fully registered with both the town council and the Barcelona regional governments.

Eating and entertaining at home in Spain. yes it is possible.

We are receiving an increasing number of requests for our service (see www.sitgesspecialoccasions.com) for catering services for events and home entertainment.

For Spanish clients this is unusual as they are more familiar with entertaining family and friends in a restaurant of choice but for Norther, European, Brits and North American visitors and residents then home entertaining – whether a gathering and celebration of a special day or something more intimate such as a business related dinner – teh we have the answer.

Our chef is award winning and has organised and catered for numerous events from Meetings of the Court of the Bank of England, Guild Meetings in the City of London, barmitzvahs, christenings, weddings, product launches, marketing meetings, sports events and directors’ lunches to intimate dinner parties at home to entertain and impress someone important or loved.

Tak a look at the website and get in touch!
